Sri Daya Mata in Communion with the

Divine Mother of the Universe

in Sacred Ecstasy

"...Once Her (Divine Mother's) love fills  your consciousness, it will be more real to you than anything in this world and will overflow into your thoughts and actions and permeate your whole being.

You honor Divine Mother by every effort you make to keep Her in your thoughts, to serve Her selflessly in your activities, and to reflect Her kindness to all.

~ Sri Daya Mata

A Tribute to Sri Daya Mata

Written on the Anniversary of Her Birth
January 31, 1989

Sharifah C. Rosso

"Beloved Divine Mother, my life is in
your hands.
Purify my heart by my all surrendering love
for Thee."

In
my inner eye, I beheld Thee,
O
blessed and beloved,
Sri
Sri Daya Mataji;
Sitting
in lotus posture,
Stilled,
silenced, steeped in sacred ecstasy.

On a
regal throne Thou didst pray
(O
Queen of Heaven -
And
of my heart)
For
all those living, passed on,
And
still, not yet here today.

Enraptured
in eternal Bliss -
Infinite
in Cosmic Consciousness,
Unified
with Christ in all of Life,
One
with God,
So
holy,
So
sublime.

Wisdom
personified,
Beauty
unqualified,
Radiant
and glorious;
Thy
Compassion and Immortal love
Dost
always shine.

A
royal crown of delicate blossoms adorned Thy hair,
(O
humble one; so pure, so rare),
Robed
in garlands of multicolored hues,
Strung
in layers of soft and gently scented flowers;
“A radiance
undreamed of…",
A
majestic holiness filled the air.

To
think of life without your Birth,
Is to think of no light at all upon this earth.
So, too, the angels celebrate
With God and Gurus
In holy reverence and great mirth.

So blessed am I,
(Your littlest one and eternal daughter),
And, indeed all humanity,
That Thou didst come to incarnate,
To bring to us the wisdom of the Sages,
Our blessed Gurudevas' sacred teachings,
Luminous, preserved by you for all the ages.

To have heard the holiest of holy words
Directly from your lips,
And to have had you take my hands in yours,
In the Mother Center's Chapel;
To have visited you in your sitting room,

Where I touched your holy feet,

And bowed to your divinity there,

(Where you ever so sweetly stroked my hair,
As my head gently lay upon your lap);

To have received your unceasing blessings,

Always sent to me ever so lovingly;
Are
my most cherished privileges,

And ever so sacred memories.

To
stroll the hallowed grounds

Blessed by you and Gurudeva,
To
walk along the garden paths,
And
trod upon the grass where you have passed,
To
sit and talk with God in the sacred Chapel,

Where you sometimes still come to pray,
To
kneel before the altar of the Great Ones,
(From whom Kriya Yoga spreads throughout the World),
Where
you became one with the Supreme Deity,
In
deepest states of highest samadhi,

Awakening Spirit's inner peace, love, and infinite joy in me,

Accelerating the liberation of our souls for all eternity,
Are my most sacred blessings,

The salvation and redemption of my life.

Namaste, Namaste, Namaste.

A Letter to Sri Daya Mata
Written on the Sixtieth Anniversary of

Her Ashram Entrance
November 19, 1991

Your life, Beloved Ma, has been dedicated to fulfilling the wishes of the Great Ones. No personal motive or desire has ever dimmed that majestic vision to provide mankind with the means to achieve the ultimate goal of union with God by personal, intimate, devoted communion with Him through Kriya Yoga.

You have provided a tangible example of how to live a life in the noblest and purest way, dedicating all one's thoughts, speech, actions, and movements to God, with deep humility and an attitude of complete surrender to Gurudeva and the Divine Ones who sent him.

You have not only preserved for posterity the sacred Teachings of the Master, but also provided all who follow in your footsteps glimpses of a perfected being incarnate through the radiant eyes of a perfected disciple.

You have achieved that supreme state of ecstasy with the King of the Universe in both meditation and activity alike. You have become One with That about which you speak. Your personal intimate dedication to Divine Mother has been a blessing for this Age.

Personally, I am deeply thankful to you for introducing me to this path and Gurudeva. I am grateful for your unconditional, eternal love, your personal prayers, and your blessings. I most humbly lay at your holy feet my body, mind, and soul, and all the devotion of my heart. I hope I will be able to find you and be of service to God and Guru in my next incarnation, and I pray you may forgive my past mistakes as I remain ever loyal to you and this noble organization of Self-Realization Fellowship/Yogoda Satsanga Society of India, our Blessed Gurudeva's most holy work.
In His most sacred love divine, always I remain your littlest one,

Sharifah.

 Impressions from a Satsanga

 with

Sri Daya Mataji

Self-Realization
Fellowship

Mother Center Chapel
Summer Solstice

 New Millennium

 June 21st, 2000

From a Letter Written by Sharifah Rosso to a Devotee in India

Dear _____,

These notes are being sent to Dr. (Aunty) Shanti Kamat (then living in the YSS Ranchi Ashram) with love, and
they are my personal account of one the most memorable days in my life,
celebrating the 25th Anniversary of my spiritual correspondence with
Sri Daya Mata. In that first note, which was dated June 23rd 1975 she
wrote, "In the ultimate sense, it doesn't matter if one is a secretary or
administrator, or any other profession. What matters in God's eyes is that we
learn to seek Him, and love Him, and live by the highest principles no matter
what role we play in the drama of life…. Should you be drawn to the teachings
of our Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda, we would be happy to enroll you in the
Lessons."

So, her words of wisdom are still true today as they were
then. During the Convocation I was so surprised to be called by Ma's secretary
who invited me to attend a Satsanga on Wednesday evening because I had been on
the list for many years. So sweetly, she said, "We want to fulfill your
desire". Happily, with great enthusiasm I thanked her and said I would be
there at 6:00 p.m.

I took time to get my hair cut, and called my dear Sikh
friends, the Mahli family, who owned an Indian Cuisine restaurant in Lancaster,
to ask if they could make some samosas for Beloved Daya Ma, who was giving her
Satsanga that evening. They are not members of Self-Realization Fellowship, but
they are very sincere lovers of God and follow their Guru's advice in their
lives - very good people. They were honored to make 75 of them for me and we
had enough to share with the nuns, also. They had just enough time to go buy
the ingredients and have them ready for me to pick up after my doctor's
appointment. So, I was able to deliver the samosas and a gallon of freshly made
mango lassi (with a touch of rose water) for Ma and the Board of Directors by
4:30 p.m., just in time for their evening meals. After delivering them, I drove
to my apartment located just down the hill from the Mother Center, and changed
into my new navy blue suit. I wore a pink blouse for Ma. I had a lovely plant,
one that had little inch and a half pink heart-shaped flowers, and it sat in a
white wicker basket, with a pink bow around it. I decided to take it with me as
my offering to Sri Daya Mataji.

As I drove back onto the driveway of Mother Center, two
novice monks were directing me, and they had me park right next to the circular
driveway near the large beautiful deodar tree. I then ascended the circular
drive and waited at the bottom of the steps of the administration building
because that is where about four or five other devotees were waiting. Then, Ma’s
secretary saw me and indicated to one of the Bramacharini's that she should
help me up the stairs, so one came down and took the plant for Ma, and my hand
was then free to use the rail, which I used to help me climb up the front steps.

To my surprise, the Chapel appeared full already with other
devotees, but they had saved a chair for me along the right side, on the aisle,
in front of Master's Mahasamadhi picture, and a Bramacharini escorted me to my
chair so graciously. We all meditated waiting for a few other devotees to come
in (and I think the ones waiting outside, who hadn't been invited, were allowed
to sit in the back on folding chairs which had been set up), as did Ma’s
Secretaries and other Nuns.

All was very quiet awaiting the Saint – stillness with a
peaceful vibration permeated the air. Then before I saw Ma, I could feel her
mighty spiritual force like a powerful magnet of love as she entered the
reception hall. I turned and saw her enter the Chapel. She strode
straight toward the altar, stood there in the middle, reverently pronaming to the
Great Avatars of this path as she prayed. She sat down next to the altar
where her chair had been placed, behind the harmonium, and a beautifully
carved Indian screen served as her backdrop.

She was in such good humor, joyful, and so relaxed. It
seemed to me that she just graciously descended into the chair, melting like
wax, into it. She said, "You have written that you wanted to see me. Well,
you are seeing me. Can I go now?" She and everyone burst out into
laughter. She has a marvelous sense of humor. Instead of beginning a prepared talk,
she asked if anyone had any questions, and one gentleman responded by asking,
"How can we develop more devotion and love for God in meditation and in
our activity?” She didn't quite hear him, and with an upward gesture asked him
to stand up to repeat his question, which he did. She said that she wouldn't
speak long, because she had done so previously the night before, and consequently her
voice had become a little hoarse.

Then, she took a more somber
tone. She spoke of several things, but these are what stand out in my memory:
She said out of every 24 hours a day, we must make time for at least one hour for
meditation on God. She said we must remember God. "He runs the whole
universe. What would happen if He would forget us? Can we not give even one
hour a day to Him, the sustainer of (our) lives?"  She said we can do less TV watching and "Internet" surfing. In other words, be aware of "time wasters" so
we can make more time to meditate. She spoke of the importance of practicing the
Hong Sau technique of meditation, and of practicing the presence of God in
daily life, like Brother Lawrence. She spoke about cultivating love of God
through nature. She said we should get out in nature more. Learn to feel the
trees. Learn to feel the "spirit" in the trees. This was so touching
to me…. She spoke again on the same four points she mentioned at the
Convocation:

     1.  First, LOVE God.

     2.  SERVE others joyously. She said, "I am happy wherever I am
just serving others."

     3.  She said we should have COURAGE

     4. She said we must have more
FAITH, and here I was deeply
moved

as she spoke of Jesus Christ and his ordeal on the Cross - where he had His doubts, too. "Father, why hast Thou forsaken me?" She
spoke

about how he was able to forgive sincerely, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." So deeply inspiring were these thoughts.

I remember greeting Sri Uma Mata at the closing of
Convocation and she said how she, too, was thinking about these things, and was
so glad that her thoughts had been in sync with Sri Daya Mata's.

Other points from the Satsanga I wanted to especially
remember because I wanted to try to put them into practice. She said to keep your mind at the Kutastha Chaitanya center and she lifted her
forefinger to the point between the eyebrows in the center of the forehead. She
said to be deeply pure - I can't remember the adjective exactly, but it was
more than pure, it was deeply pure - this impressed me greatly! She said we
should always be honest and truthful. She repeated this several times during
her talk. She mentioned that this (Mother Center) was our spiritual home and we
should come back again. She repeated this several times. (I remember at the
Convocation she said the same thing, and then added, "As others go to Jerusalem,
and Mecca, you come to Los Angeles
for spiritual pilgrimage.")

An Indian lady stood up and said that in India they have
the custom to touch the Saint's feet. And Ma just said, "I am too shy for
that." Then, Ma asked for all the devotees from India to stand. Then, she
asked the ones from Italy, then France, England, Brazil, and those from the United States to
stand. I stood up with the very few U.S. devotees who were there. Then the
husband of the Indian lady stood and said, "Ma, an Indian will never be
satisfied until taking the dust of your feet." She couldn't hear him, so he repeated, "Ma, an Indian will not be fulfilled until taking the dust of
your feet." Then, Ma spoke to the Bramacharini, and said "It would be
nice if I greeted them, don’t you think?" So graciously she began to
greet each and every devotee there. One by one, row by row, each devotee
started to walk respectfully and reverently toward her from the first row of
the left side of the Chapel. Each one walked up to where Ma was sitting to be blessed by
her.

Although she said several times that she didn't want people
to kneel before her, the devotees still did so, so she asked the Brahmacharini
to help her to rise from her chair, and then standing up, she greeted each
subsequent devotee. After the left side and center chairs were emptied the devotees went up to Ma then left the Chapel, walking into the reception hall. Then, one of Ma’s
Secretaries, a Brahmacharini, caught my eye, and came over to me to give me her
arm. As I stood up waiting in line as the devotees rose from their chairs in the rows in front of me, they walked quietly in front of
Ma. It was very unusual for Ma to greet each devotee, I understand, and another
devotee told me that she had not done so for many years, so I was very pleased
and while I waited for my turn inwardly I was grateful to Divine Mother and Master for this great blessing.

Then, came my turn…. The Brahmacharini and I were standing
in front of Sri Daya Mataji, the embodiment of Divine Mother, our Gurudeva’s
devoted successor. The Brahmacharini introduced me, "This is Sharifah,
Ma." Ma replied, "Sharifah, from
down the hill
?" in a forthright voice. The Brahmacharini answered,
"She has been on the list for years, Ma." Then, Ma’s tone changed to
such a sweet, “dulce cantabile” tone. She took both of my hands so sweetly,
yet firmly, in hers, and I raised them to my lips and gently kissed them. As I
did so my heart welled up with pure love, and I could feel Ma's divine love
pouring back into me, flooding my heart and soul with a real tangible loving
presence of the Divine. I thought my heart would burst.

Then, she took her right hand and so very delicately embraced
my left cheek. While stroking it gently, she said, "I will never forget
how you took such good care of Nettie" and I was filled with emotion. Tears
came to my eyes, and I said, "Oh, Ma, I hope I never forget Nettie".
(She and Dr. Kamat were two of the best friends I had ever had in this world up until their passings,
and I pray I never forget the wonderful friendship they have given me. I have been truly blessed by Divine Mother for throughout my life she has continued to send such wonderful divine souls to be my friends.) Then, Ma
so sweetly and quietly thanked me for some items that I had given her… (She
remembers so much – every detail. How can she keep track? I thought inwardly, "Oh Mother, it is I who should be thanking you for all that you have given to me.)

Once again, she took both of my hands in hers. Her eyes, then
her whole expression, turned to such deep concern. She said with the full force
of her compassionate nature, "Are you alright?", and she looked
deeply into my soul questioningly. I got quiet, and was internally going
through my body trying to feel my spine, and the different body parts in my
back to see if they were OK, to check to see if my spine was in alignment. (Internally,
I was trying to feel if I my neck was out of alignment, as I get regular
treatments for injuries to my head, neck, spine and back, and I wanted to reply
to her question accurately.) But then, all of a sudden, in an instant I realized
that I was holding on tightly to both hands of DIVINE MOTHER INCARNATE! I then looked up right into Ma's beautiful
face, directly into her loving eyes, and with an enormous smile, I said, "Well, I am fine
NOW, Ma" (meaning because I was
with her, because I was actually holding the hands of Divine Mother, how could I be anything but fine!) And everyone laughed
heartily, as did Ma. Then, she pronamed and blessed me again.

The Brahmacharini escorted me up the aisle to a chair they
had so considerately placed right in the back of the Chapel, so I could sit down whiling watching
Ma bless the remaining devotees. I noticed that each devotee Ma greeted was
done so with that same Divine Motherly love and affection. Then, Ma came up the
aisle toward me (being in the center of all the devotees standing behind me). One
of the Sisters reached down to help Ma put on her delicate footwear, and I
remember she had a little difficulty in getting the foot into the slipper. As I watched her, I thought, "She
is so sweet, so dear, so loving." Then, I could only feel the Divine Mother's presence - it was beyond thought, actually.

As she waived good-bye to all of us, she said a few more
encouraging words. I was so overwhelmed by my meeting with her, the love that flowed from her to all of us, a love that filled my heart to overflowing, that I was lifted into another higher state of consciousness entirely.

I am glad that
I can share this special moment with you, Auntyji, because it makes me re-live it, and I
am going to keep this in remembrance of this cherished most extraordinary day of my life, when I was blessed by the Reverend Mother Sri Sri Daya Mataji.

God bless you.

Sharifah.

"Enlightened Insights"

Excerpts from Personal Correspondence Providing Loving Guidance and

Inspiration into Life's Most Challenging Circumstances and Transitions

March 10, 2010

"Dear One,

______ is keeping me informed about the difficulties you are going through with your
health, and I have been deeply praying for you ever since I learned of your situation. You have gone through so many struggles with the body in this life, and my heart goes out to you, dear. I know it has not been easy to cope with the discomfort of your condition through the years, and now with this problem, which you had not expected. But you have faced these circumstances with courage and with full faith in God and Master, and They certainly bless you for that spirit, gained through your years of practice of Master’s teachings and devotion to Them. Surely these experiences have come because you were ready to face them, and you have grown through them and have won many victories. As you keep working with the doctors, hold on to Divine Mother and Master. Let your mind rest in the thought that They love you and are tenderly watching over you at every moment. Just by turning your thoughts to Them you are making yourself receptive to Their blessings.

remember that when any of us was facing some physical difficulty, Master would so often say, “Do your best to take care of the body, and then give it to God.” He wanted us to look after this body temple, and at the same time to put our complete trust in the Divine. I have always found that through that sweet surrender, such peace comes into the mind and heart. The lives of all of us are in God’s hands, and nothing can come to us unless it is part of His plan for our soul’s liberation. Master has promised to help us at every step along the way, and I pray that you may feel him very near, guiding your doctors, and giving you the strength that you need each day.

Let me also take this opportunity to thank you for your loving greetings and gifts over the holidays. It is very thoughtful of you to remember me, and I always appreciate the deep love for Divine Mother and Master reflected in your notes.

I am remembering you in my meditations, dear Sharifah, and also pray for your sister Susie and brother Daniel. You mentioned that he is going through a difficult time right now, and I ask God’s blessings that a way may be found to ease his discomfort. I understand how much Susie is affected by your situation, and pray for her well-being and peace of mind. May Divine Mother and Master strengthen all of you and hold you close in Their love.

God love you,

Sri Daya Mata"

"Dear One,

I received your notes and want to assure you of my continued prayers for you and your dear family. Thank you also for the gifts you sent on several occasions. Your thoughtfulness reminds me of Divine Mother's love, which shines through the friendship you have expressed and uplifts our hearts in countless ways.

In the midst of our busy daily lives, how much we need to remind ourselves that the perfect love we have sought through countless different avenues can be ours if we learn to still the mind, and pour out our soul's yearning to Divine Mother. She can never fail to answer that call if we are determined and persevere. Once Her love fills your consciousness, it will be more real to you than anything in this world and will overflow into your thoughts and actions and permeate your whole being.

You honor Divine Mother by every effort you make to keep Her in your thoughts, to serve Her selflessly in your activities, and to reflect Her kindness to all. May you feel that She receives those gifts of your heart and soul, and deeply blesses you. I remember you and your dear ones in my prayers and inwardly place each one of you in Her care.

God love you,

Sri Daya Mata"

"Dear One,

I received  your telephone message as well as your most recent letter and the other letters and notes you sent and want to assure you that I am deeply  praying for you, for your former sister-in-law Anita and her s0n, your Sister Susanna Wolf, and all 0f  your loved ones. Let me also take this opportunity to thank you for the gifts you have sent on special occasions throughout these past months. You have reached out in so many thoughtful ways, and I deeply appreciate the love and friendship that inspires you to give. Thank you, too, for your gift offering in memory of our beloved Ananda Mata. She is deeply missed as a dear sister and divine friend. But I am also happy for her that she is free and is reaping now the blessings of the life she lived so purely for God alone.

Be assured that I especially pray for you in connection with your upcoming court case, that all may work out for the best. Try to remain calm and hold to the hand of God and Guru, knowing that They love you and that Their power to help you is limitless. The more you are inwardly secure in your faith in Them, the more you will be able to think clearly and do your best. Pray, "Heavenly Father, I will reason, I will will, I will act; but guide Thou my reason, will, and activity to the right thing I should do." This will help you be in tune with God's blessings. He is in charge of your life, and no difficulty can overwhelm you if you remain firm in your trust in Him.

My heart aches for dear Anita and I am writing to assure her of my prayers. May God help her to find peace and the assurance that He is taking care of her. I also pray that her son may find help and healing in his life.

My love and good wishes to you always, dear Sharifah, and to your loved ones. You have gone through many difficulties, but never be discouraged. No matter what we are going through, each day can be lived for God and an opportunity to pray for others, to say an uplifting word, or to do some kindness for someone. May you feel His encouraging, uplifting presence ever sustaining you.

God love you,

Sri Daya Mata"

"Dear One,

Thank you for the special mangoes from you and your Indian music teacher, Mala Ganguly. They were delicious, and I am deeply touched by your thoughtfulness. Please thank Ms. Ganguly for me, too, and convey my blessings to her.

I also appreciated your note and the roses and samosas you brought on the 25th anniversary of your Kriya Initiation. Bless your heart. It was very dear of you, and I pray that God and Guru may continue to bless you in your faithful practice of Kriya. Never hold any regrets that you have not done enough. Just take the present moment and use it to the fullest for God. That is what matters most to Him. He knows the challenges we face in the world, and He is touched by every effort we make. Those efforts are reinforced a thousandfold by His blessings, and will take us to the Goal if we persevere and never give up. I know you hold that resolve deep in your heart and God and Guru will help you fulfill it.

I am pleased to learn that your dear cousin and her baby are all right, and send my blessings to them. Be assured that I continue to pray for you and all your dear ones. May God ever watch over you, dear Sharifah, and help you to feel His loving response to your heart's devotion.

God love you,

Sri Daya Mata"

You always so thoughtfully remember me at special times of the year, and I deeply appreciate all of your gifts and the loving thoughts you have expressed in your notes. Thank you for the sincere divine friendship you have given from your heart, and know that I send the same to you.

Please be assured of my prayers that there may be healing in the relationship between you and your music teacher and friend. In a real friendship one is ready to give without receiving. We all make mistakes sometimes. You did not intend to hurt her, and you have apologized. Let your mind be at peace that you have made proper, sincere gestures and leave the rest in God's hands. In the ultimate sense, the only real, understanding friend that we have is our beloved God, who reads our hearts and intentions, even though much of the time our words are contradictory. Relax in the thought of His pure, unconditional love and understanding, and know that He can help to bring some greater good even out of those experiences that are difficult. The more your heart is at peace and anchored in Him, the more you will be able to express His understanding toward others. I pray for you and your friend that there will be harmony between you again.

May God bless you, dear Sharifah, and help you to feel that each day is a new beginning and a new opportunity to attune your thoughts and actions to Him. My soul's love and friendship ever reach out to you.

God love you,

Sri Daya Mata"

"Dear One,

I received your letter and I also want to thank you for the delicious watermelon and corn you sent to Uma Mata and myself. They were much enjoyed, and we were touched by your thoughtful gesture. I continue to pray for your well-being and progress on this blessed path.

You mentioned that the questions you had about the other path you had been interested in were now fully resolved, and I am glad that you feel a growing desire to steadily deepen your attunement with the SRF Gurus by your faithful practice of these teachings.

Regarding the techniques, just do the best you can as your health allows, knowing that God and Guru receive always the sincere devotion of your heart. The feelings of joy and love that you experience are Their response to the efforts you are making. Regarding the Energization Exercises, please do not strain in any way, and continue to follow the guidance of your doctors regarding what kinds of movements are permissible for you. It is important to do your best to look after the body, and you can benefit from doing the Exercises mentally if it is inadvisable for you to do them physically.

It is good that you have found ways to keep your mind on God, and I pray that awareness of His loving presence may always uplift your heart and give you strength. My blessings and soul's friendship ever reach out to you.

God love you,

Sri Daya Mata"

"Dear One,

Thank you for .... the beautiful roses you sent. I was also touched to receive the delicious hand-picked cherries, and the sweetmeats you gave in honor of Guru Purnima. Bless your heart for your thoughtfulness. I always appreciate the kindness you express toward Master's work, and your steady devotion to God and Guru. May you ever feel Their presence in your life, sustaining and strengthening you, helping you to feel a sense of peace and well-being that remains untouched by outer conditions.

I am sorry that the matter of your pension did not work out as you had hoped. But I pray that, nevertheless, you will be able to meet your needs. Keep doing your best to take whatever practical steps you can to help your situation, and continue to hold firmly to your trust in God. When the body gives you trouble or other concerns weigh on you, inwardly affirm, "I am safe in the castle of Your presence." May that thought help you to cope with all challenges and to realize that you can be inwardly victorious.

I am pleased to know that your sister Susie is feeling stronger and send my blessings to her, as well as to Ms. Ganguly. May God watch over them both and help them to feel His loving presence and guidance in their lives.

My love and blessings to you, dear Sharifah, and my continued prayers for your well-being and progress on this divine path.

God love you,

"Dear One,

Thank you for all of the gifts and remembrances you have sent during the holiday season and on the anniversary of my birth. It is so thoughtful and generous of you, and I appreciate your sincere divine friendship. The Directors also join me in thanking you for the gifts you sent in memory of Nettie. We lovingly remember her, and I pray God may bless her soul.

You have been through much in the past months, dear Sharifah, with your health and the legal difficulties you have faced, and my heart goes out to you. Please be assured that I am continuing to remember you in my prayers.

Your letters reflect your firm faith in God and Master, and I know They deeply bless you for your devotion to Them, which has not wavered despite all of these difficulties. Do the best you can each day, and in your prayers and meditations, lay all difficulties and concerns at Divine Mother's feet in a spirit of trust and surrender, knowing that She is watching over you. Through all these experiences She will help you to grow and to draw closer to Her. May you feel that She is with you, and that Her love is always sustaining you.

Please be assured that I continue to pray for your dear sister as well, and for your cousin Chris, who has just recently passed away. It seems that he spent much of his life trying to help others, and that spirit of selflessness will surely continue to draw God's love and blessings to his soul. I also pray for the welfare of the dear friends you have mentioned, that God guide their lives.

You had written earlier to me about some of your experiences before coming to this path, and your desire over the years to serve God and Master more deeply. I understand the thoughts you have expressed, but please try not to dwell on any feelings of having let God and Master down. They understand your situation fully and receive your heartfelt love. They know, too, that you have grown through your experiences. We have all made mistakes at times. The important thing is not to hold on to them. You are serving God and Master best by trying to attune your thoughts with Them in the present moment. Take from the past experiences the lessons that were useful and leave the rest in Divine Mother's loving hands. She will always help you to take the next step in your soul's progress, and in your efforts you always have my soul's love and blessings.*

God love you,

Sri Daya Mata"

* In my early years, I had the privilege of receiving darshan from various holy personages. One of these was the Kalu Rinpoche. During that weekend, one of his Lamas had asked to communicate further with me, and later came to visit me at UCLA, where I was working at the time. He had told me that I had been his wife in a previous incarnation and he gave me a beautiful gold ring with emeralds and rubies, which I later mailed back to him (with a note that I could never be responsible for a monk breaking his vows to God). He told me about his future, his life's work, how he was to write 5 books and establish a monastery in California. At the time of writing Sri Daya Mataji, I had found out that he was a member of a Tibetan Monastic Order of Lamas that permitted marriage (so his motives were actually very pure in regard to my earlier meeting with him). Now, he had developed in his spiritual practice and was so much respected that he had been given the title, "Enlightened Rinpoche", so I was feeling very badly that I had misjudged him and also that a former spouse of mine had reached such high states of consciousness, when I was still struggling with the Master's meditation techniques. I knew both Master and these very sacred techniques of Kriya Yoga could take me to God-realization, and so I was feeling very low at possibly letting down my Gurus with my lack of spiritual progress - "....If I find Thee not, I will blame my diving...." ~ from the Cosmic Chants by Paramahansa Yogananda

"Dear One,

Thank you from my heart for the gifts you sent on Mother's Day and other special occasions. Your gifts are a reminder of Divine Mother's generosity and kindness, and I deeply appreciate your loving gesture. Please also thank _____ and the other devotees for the message you conveyed on their behalf. I do remember dear Nettie as well, and pray for her soul.

Whenever something beautiful touches your soul, or some unexpected kindness or blessing comes to you, make it a habit to inwardly thank Divine Mother. And when you feel a need for comfort and understanding, reach out to Her with the simple trust of a child. Such a sense of security comes when you develop that kind of relationship with Her wherein there is no distance, fear, or formality. She accepts you as you are, and will help you to bring out your most beautiful soul qualities as you turn to Her each day for strength, understanding, and unconditional love.

My blessings to you, and my deepest prayers that as you keep Divine Mother in your thoughts, She may become more and more real to you. I also continue to pray for all those who are dear to you.

God love you,

"Dear One,

Although I have been delayed in replying, please know that I so much appreciate the loving notes and gifts you sent during the holiday season - the lovely sari on my 70th anniversary, your remembrance at Christmas ... and your many kindnesses on the anniversary of my birth. You are always so thoughtful, and I thank you for the sincere divine friendship of your heart. Thank you, too, for you gift of the lovely Chinese maple tree given in memory of my dear brother. I deeply appreciate the sympathy you expressed.

Please be assured that I continue to pray for you and all of your dear ones. I am so sorry that your cousin Daniel passed away after a long struggle with his illness. You have written that he was a very courageous person with a sense of duty and loyalty, and those qualities will surely continue to bring many blessings to him. I know that you must miss him very much, but take comfort in the thought that he is free now from all suffering, and is continuing his onward journey in the loving care of God. He has left behind the pain and discomfort of his illness, but the blessings and inner victories he has gained through his experience will remain with him always, and he takes with him the love of his family. There is no greater power than love, and it reaches beyond the boundaries of this world to draw souls together again and again. As you send him your loving thoughts, may you feel that he receives them, and that they bring him a deep sense of peace and well-being. I pray that God may watch over his sons during this time of adjustment in their lives.

I am glad that you feel free to come to meditate in the chapel at Mother Center and to attend the meditation for peace that we have been holding at noontime. You are welcome to come to the chapel to quietly commune with God and Guru, as is any faithful devotee of this path. Naturally it is always good to have a balanced life, including meditation and activity of some kind to the extent that your health allows. Please know that we care for you as we do for each one who loves God and Guru, and you always have my prayers and soul's love and blessings in your efforts to apply Guruji's teachings in your life. May your sincere dedication to him help you to feel his loving response.

God love you,

Sri Daya Mata"

"Dear One,

Thank you for all your loving notes and gifts, including the beautiful sari that have sent for my upcoming anniversary. You are always so thoughtful, and I appreciate the sincere love and friendship you have expressed in your letters, and your heartfelt devotion to God and reverence for Guruji.

Be assured that I am praying for you and for all your friends you have mentioned, including Mr. Guha, who has just had his surgery. May God bless each of these dear souls, giving them strength and peace that comes from faith in Him.

I am so pleased that your dear sister is doing well. Surely, God has blessed her life, and the prayers of all those who know and love her have helped her to be receptive to God's healing power.

I ask Divine Mother to bless your spiritual resolves and aspirations. We all have something to overcome. But do not let that discourage you. It is good that you recognize some of the tendencies you need to change and are praying that God's healing light may cauterize those patterns in your brain. At the same time, in your daily life try to be watchful of your thoughts and actions. If you find that you are having critical thoughts about someone, pray for that soul instead, and put your mind on that person's good qualities. Greater humility becomes possible the more we are inwardly secure in God. Affirm, "Thou art the Doer, not I," and keep busy changing yourself in positive ways. Then, you will be less likely to be hurt or irritated by the actions of others. Whatever others  may do, let your own thoughts and speech be kind and attuned with God. Then, you will feel a sense of peace inside whatever your outward circumstances be.

Thank you for sharing with me the poems you have written. Guruji encouraged us to express in our own words our love for God, and you can be certain that He receives those offerings of your devotions.

My divine love and blessings to you, dear Sharifah, and my continued prayers for you and your loved ones.

God love you,

Sri Daya Mata"

"Dear One,

Thank you for all your generous gifts during the holiday season - for the Dutch treats you sent to the Directors and myself.... I am touched by your thoughtfulness and appreciate the love and good wishes that came with your gifts. Bless you for your kind and generous heart.

I was glad to have an opportunity to greet you when I saw devotees at Convocation, and I continue to pray for you, as well as for your music teacher, Ms. Ganguly, and her friends. By now she is no doubt feeling more settled, and I pray that everything may work out for the best for all three of them.

I am sorry that you have not been well and hope you are feeling better now. Yes, in my prayers I have given your love to Divine Mother, Christ, and Guruji. Even if physical difficulties are not allowing you to meditate as long or as deeply as you would like, never doubt that God and Gurus are aware of your sincerity and devotion. God knows the situation of each one of us, and all He asks is that we do the best we can. The troubles of the body are not easy to bear, but they cannot in any way cut you off from Him because He is within you all the time, as close as your own thoughts.

May you feel Divine Mother's blessings and Her love sustaining you throughout the coming year.
God love you,

"Dear One,

Thank you for your letter and the flower that came with it, as well as for your loving thoughts and good wishes. I was glad to pray for Miss Ganguly's dear mother as she made her transition from this world, and pray for Miss Ganguly also that God may comfort her in her loss. No matter how prepared one may be, it is never easy, for the relationship with one's mother is very deep and special, but I pray she may know that the love they shared is not lost because love reaches beyond the boundaries of this world and keeps souls always near. May that thought bring her assurance and peace.

I was also interested to learn the Ustad Ai Akbar Khan and _________ are interested in Gurudeva's teachings. I have written to __________ to answer her questions, and information about the Lessons has been enclosed for her. I have explained to her that they would first need to study the Lessons before receiving Kriya, and that the main purpose of the techniques is to achieve a more interiorized state of consciousness so that one can experience a deep inner communion with God..... ___________ are certainly welcome to be in touch with us  if they would like to study the teachings, and are most welcome to visit the Mother Center and our other ashram centers. It seems that they and ___________ are deeply interested in the spiritual path, and I pray that God may guide and bless them. India's music is so closely associated with the search for God and the soul's expression of love for Him, and spiritual interests often come naturally to those who are deeply steeped in it.

I hope that all is going well for you and continue to remember you in my prayers that you may feel God and Guru's blessings in your own life guiding you and encouraging you to persevere on the spiritual path.

God love you,

Sri Daya Mata"

I am so sorry that Ms. Mala Ganguly and her friends are going through such a difficult time. My heart feels for Mr. Guha and Mrs. Mallick in the struggles they are undergoing with the body. May God strengthen and uplift them. Ms. Ganguly must be a very kind and caring soul, and I can well understand the pressure that she is under because of the illnesses of these two dear friends whose lives are so closely connected with her own. But I pray she will not be disheartened. No matter what circumstances come into our lives, God will give us strength to meet them when we put forth our best efforts and trust in Him. He never forsakes those who live lives of kindness and sharing.

Please convey my blessings to Ms. Ganguly and assure her of my prayers for her and both her friends. She must surely appreciate your friendship and support during this difficult time. May God bless you, dear Sharifah, and guide all of your efforts to practice Master's teachings in your life.
God love you,

Thank you for the gifts and remembrance you have so thoughtfully sent, including your most recent gift of the start orchid plant and the cassette of bhajans. I know that you give out of your heart's sincere divine friendship and I appreciate your loving thoughts and your dedication to God and Master. I was touched by your recent letter in which you said that you would never give up all your efforts to seek God, to love Him, and to follow Guruji's teachings. Hold on to that determination, for it touches the heart of God  and will always bring to you the help you need. There is no greater gift you can give to me than to love Him and to strive to be in tune with Him in your thoughts and actions. You have been through some difficult times, but I am pleased that you have kept on, striving not to dwell on pain or sorrow but on the One who always brings to us what we need for our soul's growth. If we face everything with a spirit of trust in Him, difficulties can transform our lives more than we might have ever thought possible.

I am glad that you were able to attend the Satsanga and that you especially felt Guruji's loe during the Convocation. Always remember that he loves you -- that his support is ever with you when you need strength, and he rejoices with you in your successes, goth in your spiritual efforts and your daily pursuits. I am happy to know that you  have done so well in your college courses, and I pray that this will encourage you, reminding you of the capabilities that are within you and your potential to succeed. God bless you in all that you undertake....

You always have my soul's love and blessings, dear Sharifah, and we think of you as a faithful member of our spiritual family.

Thank you, too, dear Sharifah, for the birthday cake and candles .....I appreciate the thoughtfulness and generosity that you express on so many occasions during the year and know it is inspired by your deep love for God and Master. May They bless and watch over you and your dear ones. I am glad that your nephew us doing better and also pray for your sister's health, as well as for your Indian music teacher. My blessings to you also, dear Sharifah. It seems that you are doing well in the various courses you are taking, and I pray you will be successful in reaching your goals. Continue to study diligently, with full faith in Gods help and in your own abilities. That is what will give you the calmness and clarity of mind to meet every challenge you face. "Dear One,

Your most recent letter and the generous donation you have sent for Guruji's work deeply touched me. I appreciate your loyalty and your willingness to stand by Master[s organization. Every great spiritual teaching and movement throughout history has gone through difficulties and criticism. During the time of Christ, many were willing to sit with him at the banquet table and to join in when others praised him, but how many stood by him when he was crucified? It touches my heart when I see devotees express a spirit of steadfast faith in Guruji's teachings and in his work, and a willingness to offer their help and their loving support. We do not claim to be perfect. Every organization is composed of human beings, and human beings have their frailties. There is also much misunderstanding in this world. But the important thing is that we not let ourselves be pulled down by it or filled with anger and resentment. This is God's world, and when we are striving to live by our own clear conscience and to be in tune with Him, all will work out according to His plan.

God and Guru bless you, dear Sharifah, for your support. I know that it comes from your sincere dedication to God and Master and pray that you may continue to feel Their love in your life as you faithfully practice Guruji's teachings. He receives and blesses every effort we make with sincerity and devotion. Try to carry into your daily life the peace that you gain in meditation and to think of all those around you as children of Divine Mother. In this way you will keep her in your consciousness and attune your heart and mind with Her divine love and joy, whatever the outer circumstances in this drama of life.

Let me also take this opportunity to thank you for the loving notes, gifts and remembrances you have sent during the past months. I also hope that your dear nephew is doing better now and continue to pray for him and his family, as well as for you. My divine love and blessings to you.
God love you,

My heartfelt thanks to you for the loving gifts and remembrance at Christmas and on the Anniversary of my birth. I deeply appreciate your thoughtfulness and the sincere love and friendship you have always expressed. The Directors also join me in thanking you for the Dutch almond bread and cheese you sent in memory of Nettie, and the cassette tape. I will continue to enjoy the Birds and Blooms magazine throughout the year.

As you keep on striving to apply Master's teachings in your daily life with full faith in God and Guru's love for you, may you find an ever-growing sense of inner peace and happiness. The journey of life takes us through many challenges and many ups and downs. But one thing that never changes is the sweet inner relationship we have with the Divine Beloved of our souls. He knows our needs; He knows the lessons we must learn; and through it all His love is silently guiding and sustaining us. Hold firmly to Him, and do your best to express in your own daily environment those principles of goodness and truth in Guruji's teachings that have inspired and uplifted you. Then you will see in how many ways God silently showers His blessings on you.

You have always my soul's love and friendship, and I continue to pray for you.

I deeply appreciate the beautiful flowers that you have given me on my spiritual anniversary and send my love and blessings to you. You faithfully remember me on so many occasions during the year, and I am touched by your thoughtfulness. When I think back upon the years I have spent in Guruji's ashrams, my heart is filled with gratitude for God's countless blessings and for the many ways He has transformed my life. He will do the same for each of us whether we are in the ashram or in the world if we strive to be receptive to the principles Guruji taught and the lessons in each day's circumstances May God guide you always in your own efforts to love Him and to put Guruji['s teachings into practice. The Lord always keeps his promises, and I pray that you may find in Him the fulfillment our soul is seeking.

You had written a note to me some time ago requesting prayers for your sister Susie Wolf, and I very much hope that she has recovered well from the problem that she was having. Please be assured of my prayers for her health and well-being.

You had also written to me on the 19th anniversary of your Kriya initiation. Such occasions are always a good time to reset our spiritual goals and make a new determination to use to the fullest the blessed techniques Guruji has given. The Christmas season is also a special opportunity to practice them deeply and to cultivate that sweet relationship with God which fulfills every need of he heart and soul. May you feel Him ever with you.

Thank you so much for the delicious ice cream you gave to us on dear Nettie's birthday. It was shared with the Directors and the nuns and was enjoyed with the loving thought of Nettie. It was generous of you to think of her and to share with us in this way. I was also touched to receive the beautiful flowers, and we appreciated seeing your sweet photo album of Nettie. It was much enjoyed, and we were touched by the sincere spirit of divine friendship that inspired your gift. I also appreciated the flower and gift you gave on Mother's Day, which I know expresses your devotion to Divine Mother. I am sorry to learn that several of your family members and friends have been going through such difficulties recently and am praying for each of them. It is a blessing that he had such a peaceful passing and is free now from all suffering. Though I know you will miss him, I pray you may feel a sense of comfort in the thought that he is in God's care and one day you will meet again.

"Dear One,

I was touched by your note and am glad to know that your health has improved much. May your thankfulness for God's blessings open your heart in an ever deeper way to His constant guidance and love. The ultimate value of all our experiences is that they have a part to play in drawing us closer to Him. Sometimes through the greatest difficulties we also grow most spiritually if we try to remain inwardly strong and surrender to God. Through your devotion and efforts to be receptive, may you ever feel His guiding hand in your life.

My divine love and spiritual support are ever with you as you strive to keep your heart and mind fixed on the polestar of His love. Remember that every little effort draws His silent blessing and brings you closer to the goal you are seeking.

God love you,

"Dear One,

I deeply appreciate the devotion God, Christ, and Guru you have expressed through your loving note and generous Easter gift for Gurudeva's work. It always touches me deeply when devotees reach out to offer their support in such a dedicated spirit. You can be certain that God and Guru receive the love behind your gift and bless you for your desire to see others also experience, through Guruji's teachings, a deeper closeness to God.

The peace and beauty of the Lake Shrine has awakened in many a greater yearning to know Him, and I pray that your own warm early memories of the time spent there may remain an inspiration to you and a reminder of His ever present love. Go on seeking Him with all the fervor of your soul, persevering in your meditations and laying every thought and action at his feet. As you do so, you will feel more and more the sweet uplifting sense of His nearness filling your heart, mind, and soul. Through all of the those who devotedly strive as you do to make these teachings their own, Guruji's spirit lives on and will continue to touch other lives. You are remembered in my prayers that God may watch over your life, and that through your faithful efforts you may more and more awaken His divine consciousness within you.

God love you,

Receive in return the divine love and blessings of my soul and my prayers  that God and Guru may help you to feel Their joyous, all-encompassing presence in your life. Continue striving to love Him and to please Him in everything you do. Thus you will be able to feel in all circumstances that you are sincerely anchored in Him.

My heartfelt gratitude to you for your greetings on Mother's day and for the lovely rose plant. The sincere divine friendship you express is the gift I value most, and my soul deeply responds. I know your kindness is rooted n Divine Mother's love, and I p;ray She may ever bless your life with the awareness that She is with you.

No matter what our flaws or imperfections, She accepts us. So turn to Her with complete trust. As Gurudeva used to say, 'When you appeal to the Mother aspect of God, there is no retort - - you simply melt the Divine Heart.' Cultivate that simple, close relationship with Her in your daily meditations and in your thoughts and everyday actions. Then you will experience within your soul the proof of Her unconditional love.

My deepest blessings to you and your dear ones.

Thank you for your loving message on the anniversary of my birth and for the gifts you have so thoughtfully given. I know they are an expression of your soul's love and friendship and the deep dedication you feel in your heart to God and Guru. Never doubt that They are with you and receive every effort you are making to express the divine qualities that are within your soul. Do not be discouraged, for we need not be able to offer God the gift of perfection. Rather, it is our love and effort to live each moment more completely for Him that touches His heart. When we do this, obstacles gradually melt away until our soul shines forth in all its purity and beauty.

I am glad to know that your are feeling better now. Do continue to do all that your doctors advise for your health, knowing also that in trying to face this trial with patience, you have grown and will continue to grow in the inner strength that will take you to your goal. My prayers and spiritual support are ever with you that God may bless your every good resolve and help you to fulfill the deepest aspirations of your soul. May He sustain and uplift you in His love.

"Dear Ones,

I was touched by your sweet and loving notes, along with the lovely garland you made as an expression of your divine friendship. The devotion which prompted you to make this garland is what pleases God, Guru, and Dayama most of all, and I ever encourage you to go on cultivating that love and longing for Them, for it is so necessary in the search for God.

It is that love which gives us the strength to face our trials and I know, Sharifah, that you have had your share of difficulties these past few weeks and months. But how nice that you are doing well now and are able to get around some. It is out of these sometimes painful experiences that we learn valuable lessons and learn to cultivate within the soul qualities of fortitude, courage, positive attitude, and faith in God. So they are actually blessings in disguise.

I continue to pray for you both, that the blessings of God and Guru may flow into your lives, bringing you increasing peace and happiness within.

"Dear One,

I have your letter of February 25 before me, and was so sorry to learn of the recurring health difficulty you are experiencing. Be assured of my deepest prayers that you may feel the support of God and Guru's presence during this period and all the days of your life, no matter what you must face. I know it is not easy, yet great inner strength is developed through such trials if we face them with right attitude. Inwardly surrender to God your body, mind and soul and know that you can never stray from His ever-watchful gaze. In the act of surrender, when the devotee places all her needs, hopes and dreams at His feet, she is filled with a sweet inner peace and security. There is no greater refuge than Him. He is our safe harbor on on this storm-tossed sea of life.

It will help you to mentally repeat some affirmation throughout the day, whenever your mind is free to do so. Choose one that is meaningful to you, such as: 'Beloved God, my life is in your hands. Strengthen and sustain me according to Thy will.' If it is His will to free you from this health difficulty, it will come to pass without fail. If it is not, know that there are lessons you will learn through it that you could learn in no other way. He would never give you any test beyond your strength, and He will help you to learn those lessons if you hold trustingly to His hand.

As regards an operation, whenever there is any kind of surgery, it is always good to have another opinion. Have you done this? If I were you, I would not consent to this operation without another opinion from a different doctor. Again, I am deeply praying for you in this regard. Do let me know the outcome.

Know that all your friends here in Gurudeva's ashrams are supporting you with their prayers, divine friendship, and love. You do not face this trial alone. God and Guru are ever by your side, and Daya Ma is also. May Master's blessings and strength be with you.
God love you,

"Dear One,

My heart was saddened by the news conveyed in your letter regarding your father and brother*, and I want to assure you of my deepest prayers for them. And I also learned of your own surgery. My heart feels for you at this time of special need. God and Master's blessings are with you. Never doubt this. Let your faith be steady, for faith imparts the strength to meet every test. I am praying for you.

I know it is difficult to see loved ones suffer, and certainly your brother is in special need of God's help. But you must have faith that, as He was watched over him for countless incarnations, so He is watching over him now and will be forever more. Also, the tests of life are in reality the purifying fires of God's love. They come not to punish the soul but to strengthen it and draw it Godward. Though your brother must face this physical difficulty, his remains ever untouched. No doubt there is some spiritual lesson inherent in this trial that his soul is ready to learn, otherwise this difficulty would not have come. If faced with the right attitude, with as much faith and understanding as he is capable of expressing, he can make rapid progress while much karma is worked out. Above all, know that God will never forsake him, but stands by his side, pouring out love, strength, and blessings to him at every moment.

I have asked one of the devotees to place his name, and your father's, in Master's shrine for his special blessing. As you also pray for your loved ones, visualize them in the light of God, whole and perfect in every way. Give them love, understanding and support, which will benefit them both. I pray for you also, that God and Guru may bless and strengthen you at this time.
God love you,

Sri Daya Mata

I do deeply pray for you, each one ----

My brother had been recently diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), and through God's grace is still with us, living happily in Arizona.

"Dear One,

My heart was touched by the loving sentiments you expressed in your letter, and I encourage you to go on cultivating that love for Divine Mother and Master. I am but a vessel, but They are the living waters of love and divine inspiration your soul craves, and the more you cultivate that relationship with God and Guru, the more you will know the sweetness of Their presence. Meditate deeply each morning and evening and practice the Presence throughout the day, and gradually that deep, all-satisfying attunement will come.

Thank you for the lovely calligraphy work you have done with this special quote. You are certainly talented and have done a beautiful job with this. My soul's love and blessings to you.
God love you,

Sri Daya Mata"

"Dear One,

How thoughtful of you to give so generously to help God and Master's work, at our Encinitas Ashram Center. We deeply appreciate your selfless gesture, and I know God and Gurudeva very much respond to this sweet expression of your heart's devotion to Them. It is beautiful when devotees willingly share a portion of their material means in order to lend vital aid to God and Guru in Their mission of uplifting mankind. What you have offered will indeed serve to bring these teachings to God-seeking souls, and we are most grateful to you. Bless you many times over for your selfless spirit.

May God and Master hold you near to Their heart, uplifting you in the sweet awareness of Their constant presence and unceasing love for you. Meditate deeply each morning and evening, and throughout the day, try to feel that you "live, move, and have your being in God." Receive always the divine love and blessings of my soul.

God love you,

Sri Daya Mata"

"Dear Miss Rosso,

Our beloved Sri Daya Mata received your letter shortly before her departure from the Mother Center and asked that I convey to you the following personal message:

'Dear One,

I have read your letter, and my heart goes out to you and your dear grandmother. I a so sorry she is experiencing difficulty, and what you face is no simple decision. But from what you have written, it does seem your grandmother very much needs steady supervision. Her wish to be on her own is understandable, but it would not be wise for her to be left alone, considering her condition and age. After weighing the various factors, if I were you, I would think the best feasible option would be to follow her doctor's suggestion for geriatric care. This would not necessarily have to be a permanent arrangement but could be considered at least temporarily until there is greater stability. It is good that she is being advised y a physician on a regular basis, and it is best that she abide by his guidance while the symptoms are manifesting. Later you can see how she is progressing, but it would seem that right now she needs the professional care.

Do encourage your dear grandmother to feel that it is God and Guru who are helping her through these channels, and reassure her that whatever living conditions God and Master bring her way will be for her spiritual advancement. She should have faith that They are watching over her, arranging those circumstances that are for her highest welfare. Perhaps you can still take her to the temple now and then, as this should be uplifting for her.

Know that I am deeply praying for you both as are members of the Prayer Council. May God and Master bless you, dear one, filling you with the awareness of Their great love. Receive always my divine love and blessings. God love you."   ~ Sri Daya Mata

Miss Rosso, if you are interested in researching the various centers for geriatric care that may be available in your area, you could write to the American Association of Retired Persons for a listing. Their address is as follows.... God bless you always."

"Dear One,

My heart thrills when I have the opportunity to welcome a new student to Self-Realization Fellowship. The lives of countless devotees who have preceded you on this path proclaim how much the practice of these teachings can mean in coping with the heartaches, frustration and suffering to which man is subjected in this world of relativity. As darkness flees before the dawn, so does sorrow disappear when we consciously, lovingly turn to God.

Paramahansa Yogananda taught and proved that God can be known personally by divine communion. Realization of God is the only perfect answer to all problems. As you learn in the Self-Realization Lessons the science of meditation, and use it regularly with devotion, your life will undergo a spiritual transformation. Awareness of God will steal into your heart, filling you with joy, harmony and divine love.

Since it is not possible for me to welcome every devotee in person, I want by means of this letter to greet you warmly in the name of God and Guru. I offer on your behalf my earnest prayer for your steady progress in Self-realization.

Whenever you wish guidance in the practice of the teachings, please direct your letters to the Mother Center. They will be answered by spiritual counselors here.

May God and the Gurus of Self-Realization Fellowship bless and guide you.

In divine love and friendship,

Reverend Mother Daya Mata"

"Dear Miss Rosso,

Sri Daya Mata read your sincere letter and asked that you be sent the following message:

'Dear One,

You have written to me asking my guidance, and be assured of my deepest prayers. Your name has also been placed with our Prayer Council and you are being remembered in services each morning and evening. Ultimately, this decision as regards your vocation and future is one that only you can make according to the inner dictates of your heart. God's will for each one of his children is for them to return home to Him. So in the highest sense, it is not that important whether or not one is a musician, a secretary, an administrator, or any other profession. What matters in God's eyes is that we learn to love Him and see Him and to live by the highest principles no matter what role we fulfill in this drama of life. Should you be drawn to the spiritual teachings of our Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda, we would be happy to enroll you as a student of the Self-Realization Fellowship Lessons. I am asking that introductory information be enclosed with this letter. God love and bless you. ~ Sri Daya Mata"

Since at the present time you are living in the Los Angeles area, we invite you to attend services at one of our temples as well as to visit the Mother Center. One of the nun counselors would be happy to speak with you about the Self-Realization Fellowship teachings and our path to God.

In divine friendship,

Consecrating Lake Shrine Temple

"The peace and beauty of the Lake Shrine has awakened in many a greater yearning to know Him, and I pray that your own warm early memories of the time spent there may remain an inspiration to you and a reminder of His ever present love. You are remembered in my prayers that God may watch over your life, and that through your faithful efforts you may more and more awaken His divine consciousness within you."

"...I remember that when any of us was facing some physical difficulty, Master would so often say, “Do your best to take care of the body, and then give it to God.” He wanted us to look after this body temple, and at the same time to put our complete trust in the Divine. I have always found that through that sweet surrender, such peace comes into the mind and heart. The lives of all of us are in God’s hands, and nothing can come to us unless it is part of His plan for our soul’s liberation. Master has promised to help us at every step along the way, and I pray that you may feel him very near...."

"Ithe Temple of Silence"

"Ithe Temple of Silence,

In the Temple of Peace;

Will Meet Thee.

Will Touch Thee.

 Will Love Thee,

And Coax Thee to MAltar of Peace;

Ithe Temple of Samadhi,

In the Temple of Bliss;

Will Meet Thee.

Will Touch Thee.

 Will Love Thee,

And Coax Thee to MAltar of Bliss."

"....By remaining in the attitude of ever-deepening devotion for and surrender to God and Guru... you have the security of Their constant grace and blessing in your life.

May the unfolding of each day of this new year find your heart and mind soaring in the bliss of constant divine communion with the One Beloved of all.

God love you,

Sri Daya Mata"

"Humility is perpetual quietness of the heart.

It is to have no trouble.

It is to never be fretted, or vexed, or irritated, or sore, or disappointed.

It is to expect nothing, to wonder at nothing that is done to me.

It is to be at rest when nobody praises me,

And when I am blamed and despised.

It is to have a blessed home in myself,

Where I can go in and shut the door,

And kneel to my Father in secret, and be at peace

As in a deep sea of calmness,

When all around and above is troubled."
